Mao Mao Mao

I was in an art seminar, pembicaranya mengkritik karya pameran-pameran seni rupa lokal yang objek-objeknya adalah Barack Obama, Mother Theresa, dan Mao Tse-tung.  He was like, why don't we use D.N Aidit, Soeharto? He also shared how he had been mocked for quoting S. Sudjojono instead of fancy western art professor.

And I agree.  We actually have so much to offer, so many badass heroes, I have deep fascination with Ibu Soed and Tiga Serangkai, like someone was joking that Indonesia adalah negara yang pahlawannya paling banyak.  Then why don't we pick one?  Whining about our nation's curriculum and how they made history look so friggin boring is so 2000 and late, so it's just about our gut and will now.

And you know, I feel so coool that I knew D.N Aidit stands for Dipa Nusantara Aidit from books, not wikipedia.
